Released in late 1970, the third Move album and the first to feature Jeff Lynne, found the band at the peak of their musical imagination. Often regarded as the joker in the pack in The Move s catalogue, with several heavy, Progressive Rock epics, Looking On can also be seen as the most relaxed and confident expression of the maverick Roy Wood re-energized by a partnership with new creative foil and similarly talented songwriter Lynne, formerly of Birmingham underground favorites The Idle Race.
