Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring takes the highly acclaimed, much loved Fantasy story, written by J.R.R. Tolkien and converts it into a Real Time Strategy game. In it, you can choose to lead the forces of Good or the forces of Evil as each struggle to control the One Ring.
The game is split into two 10 mission campaigns, giving you the chance to take a look at some of the aspects of the LOTR storyline that werent focused in the books. In the Good campaign, you follow Legolas, Gimli and Boromir as manage to show up in Rivendell just in time to join the Fellowship of the Ring. In the Evil campaign, you must lead the forces of Sauron, break out of Mordor and besiege the city of Minas Tirith.

The story unfolds in four Acts, one for each major town. From the ruined town of Tristam, you venture forth to vanquish the evil presence of Andariel in the Monastery of the Sisters of the Sightless Eye, nestled in the frozen steppes. From there you travel across deserts and jungles to defeat the devils Mephisto and Baal until you face Diablo, the ultimate evil. Diablo II is four times larger than the original, includes five character classes, addition of 3D graphics support, day/night cycles, weather effects, hordes of enemies, as well as tons more weapons, armor, spells, items, and more. Gondor is overrun by the orcs of Mordor, and Gandalf rides to Minas Tirith to aid the humans in the war that is ahead. Aragorn must realize his true identity and purpose as the King of Men, and journey with Gimli and Legolas to summon the Army of the Dead so that the battle against evil can be won. Meanwhile, paranoia and suspicion rises between Frodo, Sam and Gollum as they continue their increasingly dark and dangerous travel to Mount Doom, the one place where The Ring can be destroyed once and for all.
