ABBA The Definitive Collection (2 CD) (2001)
EAC Rip | FLAC(tracks) + CUE + LOG | 136 minutes | Complete Scans | 1.01 GB
Genre: Pop | Label: Polydor / Pgd
Is there anything that simply screams the 1970s most indelible pop cultural clichesthe sunny romanticism, perfect vocal hooks, feathered hair, stacked heels, and flared sateen britchesmore than the Swedish pop phenomenon Abba? And while many a pundit snootily dismissed them during their prime as some sort of prefabricated aberration, their worldwide popularity peaked somewhere just south of Beatlesmania. Indeed, Abbas music was as finely tooled and crafted as anything to come from a Volvo or IKEA factoryif occasionally more economically potent. This doubledisc, 37track anthology comes neatly on the heels of Mama Mia!, the smash, if unlikely, Broadway show based on the bands hits, and documents every single released by the bands Polar label in their home country as well as key tracks released internationally. |

Nikki Yanofsky - Nikki Live in Montreal (2010)
NTSC DVD9 | English | 1 hour 40 mins | 720x480 | MPEG-2 @6200Kpbs | 5.69 GB
Audio #1: AC-3 @448Kpbs 6 CHs | Audio #2: PCM @1536Kpbs 2 CHs
Genre: Jazz | Release date: June 1, 2010
There have, of course, been many success stories in music of pop stars who ascend to prominence at unusually young ages. One of the more remarkable is Nicole "Nikki" Yanofsky, a Montreal-based chanteuse (born in 1994) whose four-barreled voice and jazz stylings enabled her to snag a status as the youngest performer ever to tackle a solo gig at the Montreal Jazz Festival (in 2006, at age 12). Not only did she command sellout crowds, she did so innumerable times and performed to audiences of over 100,000 attendees. This release finds Yanofsky headlining another show in La Belle Ville, with selections including "Cool My Heels," "Over the Rainbow," "Take the 'A' Train," "The Circle Game," and " I Got Rhythm." |

Gordon Lightfoot - Live in Reno (2000)
PAL DVD5 | English | 87 minutes | 720x576 | MPEG-2 @9000Kpbs | 3.78 GB
Audio #1: AC-3 @192Kpbs 2 CHs | Audio #2: AC-3 @448Kpbs 6 CHs
Genre: Folk, Country, Rock | Release date: January 29, 2002
Live in Reno is a solid overview of an admirable career, even if this Gordon Lightfoot is not what he once was. The singer-songwriter, 61 when the 90-minute show was recorded in April 2000, looks gaunt, and his distinctive voice is on the frail side. Still, he has accumulated a remarkable catalog of material over the course of some four decades, and nearly all of the biggies are among the 22 songs performed here by Lightfoot and his four-piece band, from the early classics popularized by other artists ("For Lovin' Me," "Early Morning Rain") to his own best-known hits ("If You Could Read My Mind," "Sundown," "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"). There are no theatrics or flashy production values, just a group of middle-aged men playing their music--and playing it well. So even if it's not especially exciting, fans will be satisfied. |
